Lydgate
Beach Park

BY TROLLEY STOP TOURS

Lydgate Beach Park is a poplular beach, picnic, and playground area that includes a 2 mile bike path. Here you will see the Kikinaakala Heiau, located at the northern end of the park. Hikinaakai means the “rising of the sun”, and since it is located on Kauai’s east shore, it has a nice view of the sunrise.
Lydgate is a popular destination for families as it is a great place for snorkeling and has a large playground.

Poli'ahu Heiau

BY TROLLEY STOP TOURS

On a bluff overlooking the famous Wailua River is the Poli’ahu Heiau, also known as Bellstone. Located across Opaekaa Falls, it is one of seven Hawaiian temples in the Wailua River State Park and make up the Wailua Complex of Heiau. Legend has it that Menehune used their artisan skills to build the heiau. The Bellstone at Poliahu was used to announce the birth of royalty and other important events. The area has always been sacred to Hawaiians and continues to be. In 1962 the Wailua River State Park was designated a National Historic Landmark to preserve its natural beauty and cultural resources. We do not touch or enter sacred areas during tours.
